Dartford could complete the signing of former Dover midfielder Barry Cogan this week.

Cogan played 72 minutes of the Darts' pre-season friendly at Folkestone on Saturday and is in talks with manager Tony Burman about joining the Vanarama National League South club.

Burman said: "He knows the situation and we’ll sit down with Barry.

"We’ve already spoken about what we can do and what we can’t do – it’s just the situation of how many players are in that position.

"I think he wants to be with us and I want him to be with us as well. He’s an experienced guy and hopefully we can do something.

"The guys I’ve kept, the core of the side, they’ve won leagues and they know what it takes to build to win a league. Barry’s another plus on that side if he comes along. He’s won this league with Dover and he’s got that experience to help the younger lads along on their way.

"He’s an intelligent guy and he knows how to pass the ball in the middle of the park. He’s played in wide areas as well.

"He’s a very fit lad, he’s really fit, he’s in that midfield area and it’s seeing what we’ve got there already and explaining that.

"He knows that, so hopefully we’ll sort something out in the next couple of days."

Dartford's next friendly is away to Phoenix Sports on Tuesday night.
