Dartfordians RFC looking to stay in the mix for promotion at the top end of London 3 South East

by Steve Tervet

Dartfordians Rugby Club start 2014 in high spirits and eyeing the possibility of a second straight promotion.

Having come up from Kent 1 last season, the Darts have surprised many – including themselves – by winning eight of their first 12 games in London 3 South East.

And that record has them sitting fourth at the turn of the year, five points behind leaders Ashford who they visit on Saturday (2.15pm).

The club’s director of rugby, Dave Phillips, said: "It’s certainly not beyond the team to be in the mix at the end of the season.

"As long as we’re injury-free, it’s all about having a bit of a following wind and a little bit of luck. I think we could stay up there."

He added: "It’s been brilliant so far. We’ve surpassed expectations."
