Dartford could only manage an injury-time consolation from Max Cornhill in Vanarama Conference against Forest Green on Saturday.

The visitors, managed by former Gillingham favourite Adrian Pennock scored two second-half goals to claim the points.

Dartford nearly snatched a fortunate lead early one when Harry Crawford charged down an attempted clearance and saw his low shot his the upright before the striker shot wide from a Ryan Hayes corner.

The hosts were denied by the woodwork again moments later when Hayes cut inside and saw his curling shot hit the inside of the post before falling to safety.

The lively Liam Kelly collected the ball 25 yards from goal and sent an unstoppable left-foot finish into the top corner beyond keeper Jason Brown to put Forest Green ahead 11 minutes into the second half.

Crawford nearly levelled for the Darts but Forest Green appeared to wrap the points up when Sam Wedgbury set up veteran striker Lee Hughes to score.

Dartford finally replied through substitute Cornhill deep into stoppage time but it was too little too late for Tony Burman's men.

Dartford: Brown, Burns, Mitchel-King, McAuley, Collier, Hayes, Sweeney, E Bradbrook, Daley (Cornhill 78mins), T Bradbrook (Harris 72mins), Crawford. Subs not used: Ibrahim, Green, Anidugbe. Attendance: 1,003.
