The Medway and Bexley districts took two wins each in Saturday’s Kent Schools Cross-Country Championships at Central Park, Dartford, and photographer Simon Hildrew was there to get all the best shots.
Medway’s Tyla Jade Thomas won the Year 7 girls’ race in 10min00sec and Lauren Mitchell took the honours in the senior girls’ class with 14.41. For Bexley, Murphy McDonagh was quickest in the Year 7 boys’ event (9.44) and Iris Williams ran the show in the intermediate girls’ race (14.20).
Sophie Richmond led the Ashford & Weald district to junior girls’ glory in 11.48, Freddie Gibson of Maidstone was the junior boys’ winner (10.43), Hayden Kelk took top spot in the intermediate boys’ race (16.23) for Canterbury & St Augustines and Thanet’s Franklin Shepherd won the senior boys’ title (19.13).

The top four finishers in the senior, intermediate and junior races now qualify for the English Schools Championships at Pontefract in March.
Bromley dominated the team competition, winning six of the eight categories, with only Tonbridge spoiling hopes of a clean sweep with success in both senior four-to-score classes.
