All the latest from Crayford Greyhound Track

Take note of Killahara Ruby, who has been in a rich vein of form over the last few weeks.

Her efforts won her the track’s Bitch-of-the-Month award in May and the Arun Green-trained runner is still showing signs of continuing her steady improvement after her latest win last Saturday.

The pup started her racing career here in mid-March and has had just 16 races to date.

However, during that period, she has risen up the grades from A7 level to A3 and she looks the type that may well make top grade here in the not-too-distant future.

She had an outstanding month during May, winning consecutive races in grades A7, A6 and A5, and followed by landing a puppy race grade P2 to secure the Bitch-of-the-Month title.

The dog has already shown she has plenty of early pace and with a fastest time of 23.43 seconds on her card, she looks destined to go a long way.

I am always interested in the newcomers to the track and I am waiting to see how Try Plan Bee does, having now joined Crayford trainer Mark Fenwick’s kennels.

The dog had 31 races at Henlow before being switched to Crayford and those races produced eight wins and seven second-placed finishes. So, with a 50% rate of getting into the frame, he is clearly a decent greyhound.

At Henlow, the dog went from bottom grade up to level A3. However, as a result of his trials here, he is to race in grade A2 after recording a time of 23.58 over 380 metres.

I would recommend that you wait for him to run in grade A3 here in which I think you will see his true worth.

Another new arrival is Tinas Paddy, who has joined the Arun Green kennels from Ireland and looked unlucky in his debut race here when finishing second by three lengths.

He had just two races in Ireland, winning one, and he started his career here mid-month in an A2 race over 380m.

He was unfortunate to be bumped at the first bend, followed by being crowded around the last two into the home straight.

Had he trapped out quicker, he would have won but the puppy is still learning and he could well go one better and win his next race here.
