A police spokesman said: “A man in his 30s has been arrested in conjunction with the missing person inquiry.

“The woman is still missing and inquiries are ongoing.”

The man was arrested on Sunday afternoon, and is still in custody, but police are not commenting further.

Officers have grown increasingly concerned for her welfare.

On Monday, after the arrest, they made an appeal to the public to help find her.

Polish-born Mariola, who is also known as Mika, from Northbourne, was last seen wearing white trainers, grey tracksuit bottoms, a pink T-shirt and grey fleece and carrying a black handbag.

“It is important we speak to Mika to find out if she is OK" - Det Insp Richard Vickery

She is white, with a medium build and has blonde hair and blue eyes. She speaks English and Polish.

Officers have been carrying out inquiries in Northbourne and conducting a series of searches of the nearby area.

Investigating officer Detective Inspector Richard Vickery said: “It is important we speak to Mika to find out if she is OK.

“She has left behind her family and we understand it is out of character for her to go missing.

“It is believed she may have links to Ramsgate and officers are asking anyone who might see her or have had any contact with her since April 29 to get in touch.”
