Inspirational London Marathon runners from Dover, Deal and Sandwich doing their bit for charity

Runners from Deal, Dover and Sandwich were among 51,000 to pound the streets of our capital, completing the 2015 London Marathon.

Months of hard training has paid off after the entrants took off from starting lines across London at 10am. It was a triumph for all who crossed the finish line. Some had beaten two marathons in two weeks!

Here are just some of the runners from the district:

Inspirational Chantele Rashbrook completed the marathon in aid of Breakthrough Breast Cancer. Chantele, who founded Rashbrook’s Runners five years ago, is fighting secondary breast cancer. She crossed the finish line in 4:41:17. To sponsor her, click here.

Former Deal secondary School lad Andrew Warman, 40, ran for Bliss, the premature baby charity that helped his sister Julie when her baby Finley was born too small to survive.

Just two weeks ago he completed the Brighton Marathon for the Kent MS Therapy Centre. He tore a muscle yesterday and finished in 5 hours 17 minutes. You can sponsor him by clicking here.

Deal dad Gary Dunster put his all into training for the challenge, in aid of National Deaf Children’s Society. Gary and wife Jodie’s son Isaac was diagnosed with 40% deafness.

The family, including daughter Grace, seven, have benefitted from a residential weekend away courtesy of NDCS which taught them all about deafness with other families. He finished in 5:38:59. Sisters Jo Gunne and Suzy Tigwell are supporting Barnardo’s and took part in a special training day run by decathlete Daley Thompson at Battersea Park.

Barnardo’s vice-president, Baroness Floella Benjamin and fellow former decathlete Snowy Brooks joined them as they trained. They crossed the finish line hand in hand after 5hours 38 minutes. You can support them here.

Louise Sawkins-Meadows supported Sense, for Deaf, blind people. She ran the Brighton Marathon two weeks ago for the same charity. She completed the London event in 6:02:21. Sponsor her by clicking here.

Justin James ran for the Sturge Weber charity for people with birthmarks.
Arron Blythe supported Leukaemia and Lymphoma Research. It took him 5:38:45 to complete the course.
Jason Skaife ran for the Kent Association for the Blind.
Emma Smith-Foley ran for Action AT and crossed the finish line in 5:58.
Marie Brazier completed the marathon for the RNLI in memory of her father Dave Pascall (Dover lifeboat coxswain).
