Wrestlers on the ropes to make sparkling show

Championship wrestling, full of sparkling costumes and audience participation, is coming to Deal’s Astor Theatre this month.

Promoter Sanjay Bagga describes the show as “sports pantomime”.

The exciting event, for all the family, takes place on Thursday, October 24, with doors open at 7pm and the first bell at 7.30pm.

Mr Bagga said:

“It’s live theatre and very much a family show with plenty of audience involvement."

“There’s Richard Parliament, who says he happily takes all his expenses, and the adults boo.

“Then he proclaims that he wants children to go to school seven days a week and it’s their turn to boo. It works on all levels.

“It’s all about fun, excitement and atmosphere. The children bring signs for their favourite wrestlers.”

James Tillitt, creative director at the Astor, expects it will be a sell out, and he urges families to book early to avoid disappointment.

Many people will have seen LDN Wrestling on TV, and the show’s arrival in Deal is a first for the theatre.

Mr Bagga added: “We have a fantastic line-up for our debut show in Deal, we can’t wait to meet the fans.”

The event will see the LDN British Heavyweight Title on the line as the reigning champion – the 38 and a half stone Battling Barbarian Karl Krammer – will be defending his title against international superstar Alan Lee Travis.

Mr Travis said: “I’m excited and nervous at the same time.

“Karl has the size, so I will have to use my speed to out-wrestle him. I will need the support of all the locals.”

Throw

The contest will also see 10 wrestlers fight in the championship Rumble, where the wrestlers have to throw each other over the top rope, with the last man in the ring being crowned the winner.

The rumble includes Kosta Kebab, The Dark Lord and Hakan.

Two men will start and every minute a wrestler will enter, until all the entrants have made it into the ring.

Then the only way to win the contest is to throw your opponent over the top rope, with both feet hitting the floor.

The last man standing will be declared the winner.

Tickets are £12 (£10 concessions) and are available by calling 01304 370220.
