London Road was cordoned off at the corner of Bowling Green Avenue while emergency services were at the scene.

An air ambulance flew to the scene and landed at Victoria Park, but the man was taken to William Harvey Hospital by road.

James Thomsett, a passer-by and friend of the motorcyclist, said: "Apparently he flew 10 metres from his bike.

"He only got that bike yesterday."

Paramedics from South East Coast Ambulance Service were also called to the crash

"It was a young boy on a motorbike. There's also a red car. It was all a bit hectic."
