Staff at Iceland in Deal fundraise at street stall

Staff at Iceland in Deal have all pulled together in a bid to raise cash for three charities.

The workers have brought in used books, DVDs and CDs which have gone up for sale in a street stall outside the Queen Street store.

Upbeat 80s tunes will be played each day this week and balloons and stickers given to passers by in exchange for donations.

Funds will be donated to the When You Wish Upon a Star Charity; National Youth Advisory Service; and Children’s Food Trust (Eat Better, Do Better).

Store manager Sian Ferns said: “Inside the store we have a guess the name of the teddy bear competition, guess the amount of sweets in the jar and a raffle of £50 of savings stamps.”

The raffle and the answers to the teddy bear and sweets jar competitions will be drawn on Tuesday, September 1.

• If you have books, CDs, DVDs, smellies or other items to donate, call into the store or see the friendly staff on the stall outside. You can pick up plenty of bargains until the end of the week, weather dependent.
