Teenager taken to London hospital after being trapped in farm machinery in St Margaret's

A 15-year-old boy remains in a "serious condition" after trapping his leg in a tractor's rotavator.

Fire crews from Dover and Deal went to the scene in Townsend Farm Road, St Margaret's at 7.50pm on Saturday.

They were able to free the boy within an hour, but remained for an extra half an hour to clear the area.

Hydraulic spreaders were used, which parted the rotavator blades apart so that he could be freed.

The air ambulance was in attendance, but the boy was taken to Kings College Hospital in London by road.

An air ambulance mission report described the injury as "accidental injury - inanimate mechanical forces" and said that the boy sustained injuries to his upper and lower leg.

A police spokesman said: "Officers attended and the boy was taken by ambulance to a London hospital where he remains in a serious condition.

"The incident has been reported to the Health and Safety Executive."

A spokesman for HSE said on Monday: "I can confirm that HSE is aware and we are making initial inquiries.

"We are not able to say any more."
