Evacuation of building after shop fire at Cannon Street, Dover

A building had to be evacuated after a blaze broke out.

It happened in the shop area and the building, which has flats above, was promptly cleared.

The incident was the ETC (European Trading Corporation) pawn shop Cannon Street, Dover, at about 9am today.

Crews wearing breathing apparatus took on the flames on the ground floor of the premises using a covering jet.

Three fire engines were called out.

There were no reported injuries and the cause of the fire is not yet known.
