By-elections for Dover Town Council seats in St Radigund's and Tower Hamlets plus for Alkham Parish Council

Two Dover Town Council by-elections are being held today.

One, for the Tower Hamlets ward, follows the death of Labour councillor and former mayor Veronica Philpott from motor neurone disease on May 26.

There are six candidates including Ben Glayzer of Ukip, Conservative John Morgan, the Green Party’s Beccy Sawbridge, and Labour’s Charlotte Zosseder.

The other two are Dr Brian Philp, whose candidate description is Independent Against Mismanagement and Luxury Cars, and Adam Sheldrake who has no description.

The St Radigund's by-election has three candidates, Lesley Ede of Ukip, Labour’s Ian Palmer and Conservative Chris Wilson.

There is also a by-election for Alkham Parish Council with four candidates.

One is Tracey Prince, with a description of Independent – Local Tutor and the other three, with no descriptions, are David Beaney, Gill Butler and Martin Hibbert.

Dover district has a fourth by-election today, for a vacancy on Sandwich Town Council.

The polling stations close at 10pm.
