Motorist hits tree after avoiding animal on B2011 Folkestone Road, Farthingloe, Dover

A driver who swerved to avoid a badger hit a tree.

It happened on the B2011 Folkestone Road near Farthingloe, Dover,.

Police, who were called out at 4.18am today, said that the road was temporarily shut while the car was recovered.

A Kent Police spokesman said: "We were called to a report of a car that had swerved to avoid a badger and ended up colliding with a tree.

"The man was taken to William Harvey Hospital but his injuries are not described as serious."

Officers from a Kent Police firearms unit, which was by chance in the area, came to help deal with the accident.

Both the South East Coast Ambulance Service and Kent Fire and Rescue Service were called out.

The road was re-opened by 6.12am.
