Shortly before the trial was due to begin the prosecution announced they were not pursuing the case.

A jury had not even yet been sworn in.

Mr Bellamy and his co-defendants had pleaded not guilty to robbing Rosie Grewal of her Range Rover, passport and keys in Greenhithe on November 9, 2015.

Judge Philip St John-Stevens entered formal not guilty verdicts.

Mr Bellamy, 26, is from Belgrave Road in Leytonstone, east London.

He had signed for the Whites in June 2013 and move to Aldershot Town FC in July 2016. He is also a former Charlton and Brentford youth player.

He returned to Dover Athletic last December.

Mr Bellamy, a midfielder, was injured in a game with Forest Green Rovers in November but has since returned to full fitness.

The other two defendants were Ian Foster, 56, of New Barns Way in Chigwell, Essex, and Michael Steele, 54, also of Chigwell.

The three men had been charged in March last year.
