Coombe Valley residents heard a loud noise before noticing a HGV had collided with a bridge in the road, at about 1pm.

The road was closed between Magdala Road and Primrose Road, while police and Highways dealt with the incident.

Zeta Hayden said: “I was in my brother's house on Edgar Road helping him do some renovation when I heard a huge crash.

“My first thought was a truck has crashed in the truck park but I didn’t see anything, so checked the other side of the house and saw people congregating at the bottom of the road. I went down and then I saw the lorry.”

Ms Hayden said the lorry was resting on a fence and was only a metre from somebody’s home.
