Man charged after fatal head-on lorry crash on A2 in Dover

A man has appeared in court charged with causing the deaths of two men in a head-on lorry crash.

Traian Soare, from Romania, appeared at Folkestone Magistrates' Court today.

The 51-year-old is accused of two counts of causing death by dangerous driving.

It is in connection with a crash involving a yellow lorry and a black Nissan Qashqai, which happened on the A2 Jubilee Way in Dover just before midnight on Sunday.

The lorry was travelling down Jubilee Way towards the docks when it collided with the car, which was travelling in the opposite direction.

The driver of the car, a man in his 20s, and the passenger, a man in his 30s, both died at the scene.

Both men were from Canterbury and their families have been told.

Soare was remanded in custody and is next due to appear at Canterbury Crown Court on Wednesday, August 2.
