Dover: Craig Dunn denies stealing charity box for cancer teenager Kelly Turner

A man accused of stealing a charity box for cancer teenager Kelly Turner has appeared in court.

Craig Dunn, 25, of Westbury Road, Dover, pleaded not guilty to taking the Kelly Turner Fund Trust tin from the Dovorian Restaurant in Dover on September 6.

He was brought before Folkestone magistrates at 5pm and was remanded in custody.

Dunn also pleaded not guilty to stealing another charity box, belonging to Griggs the Bakers.

This was alleged to have happened at the Dover outlet on July 13.

He pleaded guilty to a number of other offences including shoplifting at Asda in Dover on July 13 and two days ago.

He also admitted bank card fraud and receiving a stolen purse in May.

Dunn will go on trial for the charity box thefts and the next hearing is at Margate Magistrates' Court on September 28.

Kelly, from Dover, was diagnosed with desmoplastic small round cell tumours in October 2015 when she was given two years to live.

She has had a total 26 rounds of chemotherapy but she needs specialist surgery, radiotherapy and immunotherapy in America.

Despite her illness she passed 10 GCSEs this summer at St Edmund’s RC School in Dover, including getting A grades in science and religious studies.
