Missing man found safe by police after lifeboat and coastguard search off Dover

Lifeboats from Dover and Walmer and the Coastguard helicopter were launched this evening in search for a missing man.

Dover Lifeboat (17-09) was launched at 5.25pm, joining Walmer's Atlantic B Class Donald Mclaughlan and the inflatable D Class Duggie Rodbard II.

The helicopter took to the skies after the lifeboats were launched.

The search was coordinated by Dover Coastguard with a shore search by Kent police.

The man, described as in his mid 40s, was found safe and well by police and the search was stood down by about 7.30pm.
