Police treat death of two-year-old child as suspicious after emergency crews called to De Burgh Street, Dover

Police are investigating the death of a two-year-old girl.

The toddler died after emergency crews were called to De Burgh Street in Dover on Friday morning.

Detectives are treating the death as suspicious, and a woman has been arrested and bailed.

A police spokesman said: "Kent Police was called by South East Coast Ambulance Service just before 10am on Friday to a private residential address in De Burgh Street, Dover, where there was concern for the welfare of a two-year-old child.

"The child was taken to hospital and has subsequently passed away.

"Police are treating the death as suspicious and an investigation has been launched.

"A 37-year-old woman is helping police with their enquiries and has been bailed to return to the police station."
