Vera Lynn's White Cliffs of Dover among the Queen's favourite songs

Vera Lynn's The White Cliffs of Dover is among the Queen's favourite songs, it has been revealed.

The 1942 classic, which was written to lift the spirits of Allies in the Second World War, is one of Her Majesty's top ten pieces of music.

The monarch's musical taste was revealed by relatives in BBC documentary Our Queen: 90 Musical Years.

Hymns, show tunes and a Gary Barlow song also feature in the list.

"The Queen loves the theatre and musicals like Showboat, Oklahoma! and Annie Get Your Gun," her cousin, Lady Elizabeth Anson, told the programme.

"These were the tunes that remained in one's head and were very danceable to.

"The Queen is a fantastic dancer. She's got great rhythm."
