Scenic Dover site is dogging hotspot

A mother-of-three fears an idyllic part of Kent with views across the Channel has become a dogging hot spot.

Jane Moore, 63, of Windsor Road, Gillingham, was visiting Dover when she parked at St Martin’s Battery car park, Western Heights.

As she stopped for a bite to eat, she became aware that several men were parking up and then disappearing off. She also claims a man came back to his car, parked next to her and was staring at her.

Mrs Moore said: “I felt very uncomfortable and locked my car doors. I was beginning to suspect that this car park was being used as a rendezvous for persons wishing to engage in sexual activities.”

Mrs Moore, a retired radiographer, said: “It’s such a shame as I love Dover. I was born and raised there and still have family living there.

“Apparently, I have since found out that this area is well known for dogging.”

The mum admits she didn’t actually see anything “untoward” but since posting her experience on Facebook, other residents have confirmed this is a well-known dogging spot.

Sgt Ian Swallow said the area is occasionally used for this purpose but the number of calls about the problem is very low.

“If residents witness any suspicious behaviour, they are asked to report it to us and we will investigate,” he added.
