Search in tunnels fails to find missing man

A SEARCH of underground tunnels below cliffs near Dover for a missing teenager has now been completed but nothing has been found.

Police officers started searching the tunnels underneath the cliffs at Fan Bay near Dover at midday today.

Concern is growing for 18-year-old Adeel Javaid, from Sutton in Surrey, whose belongings were found next to the Coastguard Station on Langdon Cliff in Dover on Monday night. There are fears he might have been suicidal.

Anyone who has seen him, or knows of his whereabouts is asked to contact South East Kent Police on 01303 850055.

Police had sought help from a volunteer who has in depth knowledge of the tunnel system, some of which was used in the Second World War as a hospital to treat wounded servicemen. He helped officers to navigate the tunnel network.
