Two more men have been arrested in connection last January’s Dover riots.

Kent Police officers travelled to Scotland last Friday to arrest Kevin Kennedy, 45, of Murrayburn Gardens, Edinburgh.

He has since been charged with violent disorder and bailed to appear before mid-Kent magistrates on November 16.

A 26-year-old man from Brentford was arrested the same day, also on suspicion of violent disorder, and released on bail pending further enquiries until November 24.

The total number of arrests in connection with the disturbances now stands at 77 and 64 of these have been charged with more than 30 sentenced so far.

Insp Bill Thornton said: "Our actions to date demonstrate how committed we are to arresting those suspected to have carried out offences in Dover last January.

"Anyone considering travelling to Kent with the intention of causing trouble should be warned that we will not tolerate such behaviour and that you risk being sent to prison for your actions."

Rioting, with stone and brick throwing, had erupted when far right groups arriving in Dover for a march on January 30 ended up in confrontation with left wing counter-demonstrators.

Left wing groups such as Kent Anti-Racism Network, Stand Up to Racism and Antifa held a rally in Market Square.

But a large group, many of them masked broke from that rally to confront the far right arriving at Dover Priory Station.
