Ricky Miller finishes with 40 National League goals but Dover miss the play-offs

Dover missed out on a place in the National League play-offs on the final day of the season, despite Ricky Miller signing-off in style.

In what is expected to be his final Whites appearance, National League Player of the Year Miller scored a hat-trick to help Dover win 3-2 at Barrow and finish with 40 league goals for the season.

Miller equalised with a fierce volley just seconds after the restart following Barrow breaking the deadlock on 21 minutes through Jordan Williams.

Miller turned the game on its head with a penalty three minutes after the interval but Moussa Diarra powered home a header midway through the second half to make it 2-2, only for Miller to steal the show in stoppage-time when he pounced on a defensive error to smash home the winner and complete his fifth treble of the season.

Despite claiming the three points Dover were however unable to complete the miraculous turnaround required to overhaul Aldershot in fifth place and secure a second consecutive play-off appearance, instead having to settle for sixth.

The Shots just needed a point to ensure their berth and they made sure of it with two goals in quick succession early in the second half against Braintree, who were relegated as a result of their 2-0 loss in Hampshire.
