Dover Athletic boss Chris Kinnear says Barrow game can get Whites back on track in Vanarama National League

Chris Kinnear insists confidence is still high in the Whites’ camp as they seek to launch a winning run when Barrow visit Crabble on Saturday in the Vanarama National League.

The Cumbrians have lost eight of their 11 away games – the second-worst record in the division – and Kinnear admitted: “It’s a good opportunity for us to get back to winning ways.

“We’ve not been playing badly, we’ve done well and confidence is high.”

Victory could restore Whites to the top-three but Kinnear added: “It doesn’t matter one bit whether a win on Saturday would get us back in the play-off places or not.

“The only thing that would be nice is if we managed to get in it after the final game.

“I don’t know how many points it will take in the end but a win would get us three points closer to whatever that final figure might be.

“The play-offs would be a massive overachievement for a club like us, given the sort of clubs and finances we are competing against but I have over-achieved before, getting Margate into the Conference and doing it with Dover last time.”

Dover also travel to Chester on Tuesday (7.45pm).
