Anthony Goodwin charged with killing a neighbour, named locally as Harry Messenger, in Crispin Close, Faversham

Police have charged a man with murder after the body of a pensioner was found in a quiet cul-de-sac.

Officers were called to Crispin Close in Faversham at 4.50pm on Friday, May 19 after the report that a man had died there.

Now, 62-year-old Anthony Goodwin, of Crispin Close, has been charged with the murder of a 75-year-old man who was a neighbour and has been named locally as Henry Messenger, who was also known a Harry.

A cordon was set up around two bungalows in the street, while forensics officers carried out a search.

Police say the victim has been formally identified and his next of kin has been informed. The victim and the suspect are believed to be known to each other.

Goodwin has been remanded in custody and will appear by video-link before Medway Magistrates’ Court tomorrow (Monday, May 22).
