Air pellet hits woman in arm

POLICE are appealing for information after a 19-year-old woman was shot with an air pellet.

The victim was walking in Radnor Park Road, Folkestone, at around 11.45pm on Saturday when she felt a pain in her right arm.

It is thought the shot was fired from somewhere near the bowling green in the park.

The woman was taken to Ashford's William Harvey Hospital where she was treated for a small wound on her elbow and had the pellet removed.

Under the Anti-Social Behaviour Act 2003, it is an arrestable offence to carry an imitation firearm in a public place, whether or not it is capable of discharging a shot or a bullet. Carrying an air weapon in public, loaded or not, is also an offence.

The maximum penalty is six months imprisonment.

Anyone with information is asked to contact PC John Honey at Folkestone Police Station on 01303 850055.
