A man, woman, child and baby were rescued from a fire in Risborough Lane, Cheriton, Folkestone

A baby was among four people rescued by firefighters in Folkestone this morning.

Kent Fire and Rescue Service were called to a home above a commercial premises in Risborough Lane in Cheriton at 4.06am this morning.

A man, a woman and child were led to safety by crews wearing breathing apparatus, using an internal staircase.

A baby was also rescued from the property by a firefighter on a ladder.

All four were taken to hospital suffering from smoke inhalation.

Crews worked for around one and a half hours to extinguish the fire and make the scene safe.

A positive pressure ventilation fan was used to clear smoke from the building.

The cause of the fire is being investigated.
