Folkestone Central Co-op store remains shut after a week

A popular Co-op has been closed for a week - with still no re-opening date in sight.

The store near Folkestone Central train station was shut suddenly last Thursday and will remain so as it requires "a programme of works".

Barriers are now up around the entrance, while updated signs have been put on the windows to inform the public of the closure.

They have replaced the hand-written note stuck to the doors last week.

At the time, the company said the branch, on the corner of Brockman Road and Cheriton Road, was shut as a precaution in order for the floor inside to be assessed.

A spokesman from Co-op has today told KentOnline they are still unable to give a date for when customers will be able to return.

They did not provide any more details on the specific issues, but said: "The store remains closed and we await a programme of works."

Today, a manager at the shop said that they will be opening again in the future but there was no confirmed date.

Co-op has apologised for any inconvenience caused.
