Teenager Zach Leatham, 19, of Weymouth Road, Cheriton, charged after alleged hit and run crash left man fighting for his life

A teenage driver has been charged after an alleged hit and run in Folkestone left a man fighting for his life.

Zach Leatham is accused of two offences following the incident at 7.20pm on Friday, July 10 in Weymouth Road, Cheriton.

The 19-year-old was charged with failing to stop after a collision and causing serious injury by dangerous driving.

The victim, a man, was airlifted to hospital with serious head injuries.

Paramedics from an ambulance and two responder cars were called along with the air ambulance which landed in Cheriton Rec.

Police closed the road to allow the helicopter to take off and land and carry out investigations.

Leatham, of Weymouth Road, is due to answer the charges at Folkestone Magistrates Court on December 7.

He has been released on bail.
