Fallen tree branch crushes Peugeot car and hits man in Shorncliffe Road in Folkestone during high winds

Emergency crews were called after a branch fell on a car in Folkestone this morning.

The silver Peugeot was struck in Shorncliffe Road when part of the tree snapped off during high winds.

Police, ambulance and two fire crews were called at just before 11am after a tree landed on a car at the junction with Castle Hill Avenue.

A spokesman for South East Coast Ambulance confirmed one ambulance had been called after a man in his 30s was struck by part of the fallen tree.

His injuries were not serious and he was treated at the scene.

Kent Highways closed the road while the scene was cleared but reopened at 1.55pm.
