Canterbury Crown Court security brought in to restore order during Gus Allman murder hearing

A punch-up broke out in the dock after six people appeared on charges relating to the alleged murder of a man in Folkestone.

Damian Daley, 39, of London Street,Folkestone and Timothy Avril, 22, of Hindmans Road, East Dulwich, south London, had pleaded not guilty to murdering Gus Allman in February.

Two others, Laura Smith, 27, of Harvey Street, Folkestone and Michael Williams, 20, East Dulwich both denied doing acts intending to pervert the course of justice.

Dean Alford, 20, of Wadden Hall, Canterbury and Melech Marshall 18, from New Cross, London admitted similar charges.

But it was when Judge Adele Williams was considering bail for one of the defendants that the fight broke out between two of them.

The judge then left the court as more security staff were drafted in to restore order and all six were then remanded in custody after a telling off from the judge.

The trial of the four is scheduled to begin next month at Canterbury Crown Court.

Mr Allman, 20, from London, was fatally stabbed in London Street, Folkestone, at about 7.30pm on Wednesday, February 19 last year.

He was found in nearby Wood Avenue and was treated by paramedics, but died later in hospital.

Smith is charged with doing acts tending and intending to pervert the course of public justice “in that she cleaned Flat 2 and the communal areas of 20 London Street between February 18 and 21 this year and washed and disposed of blood stained articles."

Williams faces a similar charge accused of giving an account to a police officer at Wood Avenue, Folkestone and then making a police statement knowing them to be false.

The perverting the course charge against Marshall relates to him giving a false account to police. Alford has admitted making a statement and “deliberately taking police to the wrong crime scene
location”.

Both will be sentenced after the trial.
