Royal Victoria Hospital in Folkestone evacuated following chemical spill

Two people have been treated for breathing difficulties after a chemical spill at a hospital.

Police, fire and ambulance services shut off a road in Folkestone following the incident this morning.

The spill, at the Royal Victoria Hospital in Radnor Park Avenue, happened at around 9am.

The hospital was evacuated and fire crews sent in to ventilate the building.

Two people were treated for breathing difficulties following the spill, which has been identified as a medical cleaning product.

A fire services spokeswoman said: "Kent Fire and Rescue Service was sent to the scene of an incident at The Royal Victoria Hospital on Radnor Park Avenue in Folkestone, following reports of a small chemical spill.

"Three fire engines were in attendance, and crews wearing breathing apparatus removed the spill, which has been identified as a medical cleaning product.

"Crews ventilated the building using a fan, and the property was evacuated.

"Staff and contractors have now returned to the building."
