Large emergency response closes Bouverie Road West in Folkestone

A man has been taken to hospital in a serious condition after collapsing in a street.

The incident prompted a large emergency response in Bouverie Road West, Folkestone, behind Sainsbury’s at about 12.20pm.

Teams were called after a man collapsed in the street.

He has since been taken to the William Harvey Hospital in Ashford in a serious condition.

Critical care vehicles were at the scene along with paramedics, firefighters and the police.

The road was blocked near the supermarket and Sotirios restaurant but has since reopened.

Kent Fire and Rescue Service says firefighters were called shortly before 12.30pm to assist police and have since left the scene.

Police say officers were called to a medical incident.

A South East Coast Ambulance spokesman said: “We were called at approximately 12.20pm today to reports a person had collapsed near Sainsbury’s in Bouverie Road West, Folkestone.

“Ambulance crews attended and a man was given emergency treatment at the scene before being taken to William Harvey Hospital in a serious condition.”
