Man charged with inflicting grievous bodily harm police officer in Folkestone

A police officer was rushed to hospital with a broken ankle after he was reportedly assaulted while out on a response call.

A man from Folkestone has appeared in court following in the incident in Cheriton Road in the town on Friday.

Police were at the scene following a report of a disturbance when the officer was allegedly injured.

He was treated at a local hospital.

Kieron Deacy, 20, who lives in the same road, was arrested just before 6pm and charged with inflicting grievous bodily harm.

He appeared at Medway Magistrates’ Court via video link on Monday.

He has been released on bail and is set appear at Canterbury Crown Court on Monday, July 16.
