Sand and Stone duo from Folkestone appear on ITV's The Voice UK

The spotlight was on brother and sister Tom and Abbie Dixon when they sang their hearts out on The Voice UK.

Their duet of Mumford and Son's I Will Wait had judge Tom Jones hovering his finger over the button to turn his chair around for the Folkestone siblings, in the programme aired on Saturday night.

The duo, who perform as Sand and Stone, were selected for the show after auditioning at The Chambers in Cheriton Place.

They took part in two further London auditions and a Manchester band rehearsal before stepping onto the stage for the ITV programme, but missed out on selection on the night.

Tom, 25, who describes their music as "upbeat folk" said: "We went on The Voice for the experience and although it was a little bit gutting not to be chosen, we are both very easy going people and we are just grateful to get as far as we did."

The student development leader at Folkestone School for Girls and his sister Abbie, 22, a barista at The Chambers, were filmed for the programme at the Warren and Brockhill Country Park talking about their shared love of music.

Singing legend Tom Jones was heard to tell fellow judges Will.i.am, Jennifer Hudson and Olly Murs: "it's pretty good" and "they had some fire".

The duo, who write a lot of their own material, say they will continue gigging and having fun with their music.
