Man 'attacks' boy, 15, sparking police appeal for witnesses

A mother says she is “sick to the stomach” after watching a video of her teenage son being attacked in broad daylight by a grown man.

Elizabeth Dee, of Fenner Close in the Enbrook Valley, Sandgate, was alerted to the footage, which showed the man - thought to be in his 50s - assaulting her son in Lucy Avenue, Folkestone.

It shows the man putting the boy in a head lock, before pushing him into a garden fence, shoving him into a main road and punching him in the face.

The video of the alleged attack has gone viral.

Lewis Dorrell, 15, a pupil at East Kent College, had gone to meet some friends from the Folkestone Academy on Wednesday, and had been walking towards Radnor Park at the time.

Ms Dee says: “My son is no angel, I am not under any illusions, but I have witnesses saying he was in the wrong place at the wrong time.

“Everyone is quick to jump on the kids when they mess up, but it is absolutely disgusting that a grown man thinks it is acceptable to behave in this way.”

Ms Dee alleges her son was walking with his friends in Lucy Avenue, and that a group of youths in front of him, that he knew, were playing knock-down ginger on some of the properties in the Linwood Estate.

After a resident shouted at the youngsters, who were walking a distance ahead, it is alleged a man confronted Lewis and asked if he was the culprit.

Ms Dee said: “The man asked if my son had done that.

“Lewis is of a similar build, but has different colour hair.”

After denying it, the man then launched the attack - which was filmed by the lad's friend as evidence.

"As a mum, to see that video is awful" - Elizabeth Dee, mother

“As a mum, to see that video is awful,"she said.

“My son came home and didn’t say anything, but when I saw the video I took my son to the police station.

“It has shook him up quite a bit, that’s why he didn’t want to talk about it.

“I just feel sick to my stomach.”
