Trialist defenders Will Moses, Freddy Barton and Makhosini Ryan-Khayne agree terms with Isthmian Premier Folkestone Invicta ahead of new season

It’s been a busy period for Folkestone before their opening-day Isthmian Premier trip.

Full-backs Makhosini Ryan-Khayne and Freddy Barton, as well as former Dover defender Will Moses, have agreed terms ahead of Saturday’s game at Wingate & Finchley.

Moses, 20, has been with Invicta throughout pre-season, having played 15 times at National League level and 17 times in National League South before he departed Crabble.

Joint-boss Micheal Everitt told the club website: “Will is a signing we are delighted to get done.

“He has impressed us since the first training session and in every game he has played pre-season, playing mainly in the centre of defence but, also, at right-back and in midfield.

“He has played two seasons at higher levels and we believe he has the ability to be going back there, he is only 20.”

But another centre-half, Jake Goodman, has joined Isthmian South East Sittingbourne on loan.

Everitt explained: “We have made a lot of changes to our squad this summer and adding Jake to our defensive options was important for us.

“We knew at the start of the summer that Callum [Davies] would require an operation to fix an issue he had been playing with last season, so the expectation was that there was a decent possibility that he wouldn’t make the start.

“We are delighted that Callum’s now fit.

“We feel that, with many new additions and partnerships that need to build within the team, having the continuity of Callum alongside Ian Gayle is an important platform for us to build.

“Jake is still a big part of our plans for this season. We need to ensure he is still getting game time to stay fit and be game ready, and this is important both for him and for the club.”

Folkestone, who drew 1-1 at home to Herne Bay last weekend through David Smith’s first-half effort in a friendly, host Chatham in the league on Tuesday.
