Man assaulted in Northfleet

A man has suffered serious facial injuries after he was attacked in an alley in broad daylight.

The 45 year old had just left a pub in Perry Street, Northfleet, when he was attacked in an alleyway between Seymour Road and Wycliffe Row.

During the assault, the man fell to the ground and suffered several blows to his body and face, leaving him with fractures to his cheekbones, nose and jaw.

He also sustained damage to his right eye.

The attack happened between 4.40pm and 4.58pm on May 5, but the man is still in hospital.

Details have been released by police today in the hope that someone will come forward with new information.

Detectives are appealing for anybody who witnessed the assault, or who saw anybody following the man, to contact them on Kent Police’s non-emergency number 101, quoting crime reference XY/13767/13.

DC Richard Debnam said: “This was a nasty and vicious assault that has left the victim seriously injured.

“We will not tolerate violence and are asking anybody who saw anything leading up to or after the assault, or who witnessed the attack itself, to get in touch.”
