Arrests made in week-long drugs operation

A WEEK-long drugs operation in North Kent led to 16 arrests and thousands of pounds of cash and drugs seized.

In just five days officers from specialist teams raided 12 houses in Dartford and Gravesham as part of a National Drugs Awareness Week.

The operation, which was carried out from Monday to Friday last week, saw police officers seize £7,200 in cash and drugs with a street value of more than £13,745.

Among the drugs found were suspected ecstasy tablets, herbal cannabis, cocaine and heroin.

A 19-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to supply cannabis at an address in Green Street Green Road, Dartford on Monday.

Officers seized suspected herbal cannabis, with a street value of £350, suspected ecstasy tablets and around £1,200 cash.

On Tuesday, at an address in East Hill, Dartford, officers seized 1kg of suspected herbal cannabis, with a street value of £4,500 and around £5,000 cash. A 25-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to supply cannabis.

On the same day, at an address in College Road, Northfleet, suspected herbal cannabis with a street value of £1,485 was seized and a 24-year-old man, and 29-year-old woman were arrested.

On Wednesday, an address in St Edmunds Road, Dartford was raided and a small amount of cannabis seized. A 38-year-old man was arrested and cautioned for possession of it.

At the same time, in a house in Bevis Close, Dartford, suspected heroin with a street value of £200 was seized.

Darren Currans, 26, of Bevis Close, Dartford was arrested and charged with possession of heroin and allowing the premises to be used for the smoking of heroin.

He will appear at Dartford Magistrates Court on Wednesday, June 11. A second man, aged 24, was arrested and cautioned for possession of heroin.

A third arrest was also made by officers on Wednesday – a 23-year-old man, of no fixed address, on suspicion of possession of herbal cannabis and indecent images.

On Thursday, they raided an address in Wrotham Road, Meopham and discovered suspected cocaine with a street value of £200 and a small amount of suspected cannabis.

Daniel Stringer, 20, of Wrotham Road, Meopham, was arrested and later charged with possession of cocaine and cannabis.

He will appear at Dartford Magistrates Court on Thursday, June 5.

In St Patricks Gardens, Gravesend, a small amount of cannabis was seized and a 25-year-old woman received a warning for possession of a controlled drug.

Later, in Dickens Road, Gravesend, a small amount of cannabis was found and a 23-year-old woman was given a warning for possession of a controlled drug.

Suspected cocaine with a street value of £1,260 and suspected cannabis with a street value of £150 were seized at an address in Elm Road, Gravesend. A 51-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to supply cocaine and cannabis.

In Charles Street, Greenhithe, cannabis resin was found and a 38-year-old man was arrested and cautioned for possession of it.

On Friday, at an address in Queens Gardens, Dartford, suspected cocaine with a street value of £5,000 was seized.

Christian Sookoo, 23, of Queens Gardens, Dartford was later arrested and charged with possession with intent to supply and assault on a police officer. He appeared at Medway Magistrates Court the following day.

At 6pm the same day, following a stop check of four men, a warrant was executed at an address in Poplar Avenue, Gravesend. Suspected cocaine, with a street value of £600 and £1,000 cash were seized along with a Mercedes car. Four men – a 22-year-old from Northfleet, a 31-year-old from Northfleet, a 17-year-old from Northfleet and a 37-year-old from Gravesend – were arrested on suspicion of possession of cocaine and possession with intent to supply cocaine.
