Driver escapes serious injury when lorry overturns off the A2 in Gravesend

A policeman has revealed a 50-year-old truck driver escaped serious injury when his articulated lorry overturned off the A2 in Gravesend.

Police were called to the Ebbsfleet turn-off just before 1.30pm to reports of a lorry on its side.

Ambulance and fire crews were also called to the scene because the driver was believed to be trapped.

But he managed to leave the vehicle with just a minor neck injury and grazing to his shoulder.

Police remained at the road to wait for the lorry to be recovered.

PC Martin Taylor tweeted a picture of the lorry and warned of delays.

He posted: "RTC at #ebbsfleet turnoff on #a2, traffic flowing it may be some delays. No injuries to driver #gravesend #police."
