But Eurostar has reported that its train service between London St Pancras and Paris Gare du Nord, including those stopping at Ashford International, are running as normal.

The company says that its existing security measures are keeping passengers safe.

A spokesman said: "Our trains are not affected. There is no change to our services. We already operate the highest level of security."

Kent is sharing the global shockwave from this morning's attack on the French capital's 11th arrondisement (district) which neighbours the 10th arrondisement where Gare du Nord is.

French police are now on a mass hunt for the gunmen.
