Fly the Flag ceremony in Community Square, Gravesend, to commemorate armed services

A service to pay tribute to the servicemen and women in the armed forces will take place at Gravesend's Community Square.

Members of the public are invited to come and show their support at the commemorative gathering, which starts at 12.30pm on Monday.

The service will include a parade featuring veterans and cadets as well as the raising of flags.

There will also be a reading from Rev Jacqueline Littlewood, associate priest at Christ Church in Gravesend, and performances from Sound Waves, the Port of London Authority choir. Musical accompaniment will be provided by the Gravesham Borough Band.

Proceedings will finish with an address of thanks from mayor of Gravesham Cllr Mick Wenban.

The service has been organised by Gravesham council as one of its events to mark Armed Services Day, on Saturday June 27.
