The Gangnam Style craze will rock Gravesend today when dozens of dancers strut their stuff to help a little girl who needs life-saving cancer treatment.

Children, parents and grandparents are being invited to perform the amusing dance moves of South Korean musician Psy in aid of seven-year-old Stacey Mowle.

Stacey, a pupil at Shears Green Infant School in Northfleet, was diagnosed with neuroblastoma in May 2010.

She underwent almost two years of treatment, including chemotherapy, radiotherapy, surgery to remove the tumour and blood transfusions, only for her family to be given the devastating news just before Christmas last year that the youngster has relapsed.

She now needs specialist treatment which is neither available in the UK nor funded by the NHS and may cost up to £500,000.

The Gangnam Style dance-off, which will start at noon in Community Square, is one of many events planned to help the little girl from Trafalgar Road, Gravesend.

One of the organisers, Clare Knowles, from online community group Mad Cafe, said: "We want as many people as possible to come along, learn the moves and have some fun.

"We also want as many dance schools to join in too so we can raise as much money as possible but also raise awareness of Stacey. The more people who know about her the better."

The cast of hit comedy series The Inbetweeners have also given their backing to the appeal.

During their appearance at The Woodville they signed a fish bowl to be auctioned off through Mad Cafe.

The dance-off coincides with the Rock Up in Red health monitoring day organised by Gravesham council’s healthy living group, The Gr@nd, in aid of the British Heart Foundation.

Shoppers in the town will be able to have free health checks.
