Gravesend and Dartford school children raised thousands for Children in Need as the totals are totted up

Primary school pupils covered in spots would usually set the chicken pox alarm bells ringing, but last week it was the sign of some sterling fundraising efforts for Children In Need.

Youngsters and their teachers got involved across Dartford and Gravesham on Friday, with most donating a quid or two to dress up in spots or bright yellow.

Thousands was raised across the borough for children around the UK who need some extra help.

A record breaking £46.6 million was raised on the night of Friday night’s BBC One broadcast, which was the first since former host Sir Terry Wogan died in January.
