Air ambulance called to A2 after a truck falls on a man making repairs

A man has been airlifted to hospital after suffering serious injuries after being crushed by a truck.

He was reportedly carrying out repairs on the vehicle when it happened.

South East Coast Ambulance Service spokesman Richard Airey said: "We sent two ambulances and two cars at the scene.

"A man with what can only be described as very serious injuries was airlifted to Kings College Hospital in London."

Police spokesman, Jon Green, said: "Kent Police was called to the A2 at Ebbsfleet at 2.50pm to reports a truck had fallen on a man who was carrying out repairs underneath it.

"The incident happened on the coast-bound carriageway near the A2260.

"The man has been airlifted to Kings College Hospital with serious injuries."

Traffic coming out of London towards Gravesend was backed up, with emergency services on the scene and the air ambulance at the scene until just before 3.30pm.

Highways officials said traffic returned to normal at around 4.20pm.
