Leon Bunn of Doria Drive, Gravesend, charged with robbery after huge armed police search in Northfleet

A man has been charged with robbery after he was arrested following an armed police search.

Leon Bunn, 29, of Doria Drive, Gravesend, reportedly robbed a woman and threatened her and another man with what was believed to be a handgun in Painters Ash Lane, Northfleet, at around 7.30pm on Tuesday.

He has been charged with one count of robbery, one count of possession of an imitation firearm with intention to cause fear of violence and one count of possession of cannabis.

The arrest came after armed officers were among those called to the scene because a victim had reported seeing a handgun.

Witnesses saw police cars and ambulance vehicles in nearby Dene Holm Road, as well as Doria Drive and Freeman Road, both in Gravesend, as officers searched for the suspect.

One resident of Doria Drive said she saw eight police officers, two of them armed, as well as a helicopter circling above the area.

Bunn will appear at Medway Magstrates Court by way of video link today.

Officers are still making further inquires to find a second person in connection with the incident.
