Man cut free from pile-up wreckage

FIREFIGHTERS rescued a man from the wreckage after a four-vehicle crash on the A2 in Kent.

Crews from Dartford and Thames-side had to cut the man out of his van after the collision, which involved another two cars and an HGV.

The incident happened on the coast-bound carriageway, just before the slip road exit at Pepper Hill, near Gravesend, at about 6.15pm on Tuesday.

The man was treated by ambulance crews then taken to Darent Valley Hospital with neck and back injuries. No-one else was injured.

Traffic was diverted along the hard shoulder for about an hour while fire, police and ambulance crews worked at the scene.
