Project Alliance: Kent Police teams up with the Metropolitan Police to crackdown on cross-border crime

Police in north Kent have teamed up with officers from the Metropolitan Police as part of a crackdown on cross-border crime.

Project Alliance was launched last July to help patrols in Dartford, Gravesham and Bexley work together more effectively to reduce crime, disorder and antisocial behaviour.

Officers joined forces for another two-day operation this week to reassure the public on both sides of the border.

A visible policing presence was focused in the Parrock Street and Windwill Street areas of Gravesend as well as in Dartford town centre and then Dartford Park area.

Officers also patrolled the Harmer Street and Milton Road areas of Gravesend, where they issued cautions to two men found to be in possession of cannabis.

Kent officers also assisted in the arrests of a number of people including two of Bexley’s most wanted suspects, one of whom was detained in Dartford.

Sgt Dave Crompton of Kent Police said: "We work closely with our colleagues in the Metropolitan Police on a daily basis but Project Alliance gives us the opportunity to strengthen our links and jointly target criminals to help keep Kent a safe place to live, work and visit.

"Our activity in Dartford, Gravesend and Bexley was well-received by members of the public and we are looking forward to running further operations of this nature again in the future.

"I hope this sends a clear message to those criminals who travel across borders that there is nowhere to hide when we are not constrained by geographic boundaries."
